We
went to Isan by road with
an unusual way because we
wanted to see something
different such as rice field,
river, mountain and people.
We hit the road to Sarkeaw
Province which was a border
of Thai-Kambodia and up
to Burirum Province. Along
the highway, we would pass
a big plantation of rice
and sugar cane field where
we could feel the peace
of nature and simple agricultural
life. We drove through downtown
Burirum which was like an
agricultural center; people
would bring their supplies
to sell the Merchants. After
that we passed a part of
Surin Province at Tha Toom
District called “Home of
Thai Elephant” where we
could see the biggest elephant
community of Thailand with
almost a hundred elephants
lived with human. That meant
the way they lived together.
After passing by, we entered
Roi – et Province “Home
of Jasmine Rice”; a million
rais (acre). They exported
jasmine rice from here to
all over the world. They
can plant rice only once
a year, therefore it was
in a top quality. Roi-et
was a small province but
there were so many interesting
places such as temples.
We stayed overnight there.
Everyday after 08.00 P.M.,
people in Roi-et went back
home and spent time with
their families. Next day
early morning, we drove
up to Nakorn Panom province
passing Sakonnakorn. Nokorn
Panom was a border of Thai-Lao
with a Kong River in between.
There were Thai-French style
buildings by the river.
They were so magnificent.
The most popular breakfast
was fried egg with Thai
pork sausage on a hot pan
served with French bread.
After finished our breakfast,
we drove to Pratat Pranom
district where there were
the relics of Buddha located.
We thought they were the
oldest ones in Thailand
because they were constructed
in 8th B.E., 8th B.E.( Buddhist
Era ) so surprised! That’s
before the Christ religion.
However, they were continually
reconstructed until present.
Thai and Lao people had
highly respected them for
a long time. We faced south
Isan which was along the
Kong river to Muakdaharn
Province and it was called
“Home of commercial boarder”.
There was a friendship bridge
Thai-Lao overhere where
the opposite is Sawannaked
Province which meant “the
area of heaven”. There were
many Thai-Lao people crowed
and busy. We left Muakdaharn
behind and headed to Amnardcharoen
Province, a small city in
between Yasothorn and Ubonratchatani.
We turned to Yasothorn to
spend a peaceful night there.
The last day on the way
back home, we still drove
forward to Mahasarakam;
“City of Education of Central
Isan”, Khon Khen ; “City
of Education of North Isan”,
Nakornratchasima; “the main
gate of Isan” , Saraburi
;“City of Industrial” ,
Ayutthaya ;“The Ancient
City” , Pratumthani and
finally Bangkok “the Capital
of Thailand”. |
